On the night of August 9, a second-year postgraduate trainee (PGT) doctor was on duty at Kolkata’s prestegious 138-year-old RG Kar Medical College, when she was barbarically attacked and mutilated while she was on duty within hospital premises.
Her pelvic bone was broken and her spectacles were smashed into her eyes. She had fingernail scratches on her face. She was strangled. Her head was smashed resulting in injuries on the temporal bone of her skull and blood caogulation on the frontal region.

The crime scene has been wrecked. Evidence has been destroyed.

She succumbed to her injuries the next morning.
